V.Sylva was founded to introduce sustainability into the heritage menswear world by meticulously researching and developing innovative methods to recycle vintage and antique menswear garments. The Vaellus backpack is a unique hiking bag born from my journeys through the deep forests of Finland. It seamlessly combines heritage materials such as perforated deerskin suede and vegetable-tanned leather with modern technical fabrics, creating a balance of tradition and innovation. The color palette draws inspiration from the soft, natural tones of Finnish birch furniture, reflecting a quiet, refined sensibility ideal for the wilderness and urban settings alike. Cast aluminum takes the place of plastic while braided leather replaces polyester cord.

At the Brooklyn studio I lead, we specialize in designing and fabricating unique accessories crafted from vintage and recycled fabrics. By breaking down old garments, we carefully salvage their distinctive materials to create new, exciting bags that honor the original textiles while offering modern functionality. In my role as project leader, I guide the selection process, determining which designs best complement each fabric’s texture, pattern, and durability, ensuring every piece is both visually striking and practical.

Each bag reflects a commitment to sustainability while celebrating the rich texture and visual appeal of the textiles.

Creative Consultant, Production Head
One of my first projects out of college was a collaboration with Hilton's Tent City, a renowned name in outdoor gear. They tasked me with transforming vintage 1950s Boy Scout tents into a unique collection of rugged, adventure-ready bags. Under my leadership, my studio meticulously deconstructed the old tents and reimagined them into an exclusive limited run of backpacks, duffel bags, fanny packs, and even camping stools. This limited edition series honored the heritage of the original materials while delivering durable, functional gear; selling out quickly among outdoor enthusiasts.

I collaborated with Danish furniture giant BoConcept to creatively repurpose their past-season furniture fabric pieces. Tasked with finding innovative uses for these materials, I led a small team to design and produce unique bags entirely in-house, ensuring quality and craftsmanship at every step. To support the project, we built a custom website dedicated to showcasing and selling these one-of-a-kind products. The initiative culminated in a sustainability event hosted by BoConcept Boston, where we highlighted the environmentally conscious processes I developed, emphasizing the brand’s commitment to reducing waste and promoting circular design.

I lead a small, dedicated team of designers within the apparel industry, focusing specifically on the fit, quality, and craftsmanship of shell jackets. These jackets were carefully crafted using waxed cotton canvas, recycled leather suede, and vintage cotton jacquard camouflage fabric. This particular project, developed in collaboration with two major retailers, successfully achieved a complete sell-out within a single season, clearly demonstrating a strong and enthusiastic market reception. Currently, my studio is revisiting these original designs to create an updated and refined version, scheduled for release in 2026. Our efforts are concentrated on enhancing the materials and construction techniques to improve both the durability and overall aesthetic appeal of the jackets.

As a freelance interior designer, I transformed an empty loft in an old Brooklyn factory into a unique oasis. By carefully curating vintage furniture alongside antique kitchenware and ceramics I collected while spending time in rural France, I crafted a space that balances comfort and beauty. Every element was chosen to create an inviting atmosphere that reflects both history and personal narrative. The finished loft serves as a distinctive rental dwelling, offering visitors to Brooklyn a truly memorable and authentic place to stay.

This hands-on approach allows me the freedom to explore and develop ideas in their purest, rawest form before moving on to refine and perfect them using digital methods.
